When should a startup do positioning

Do positioning once you have real customers to learn from and a product that works for some of them. Common triggers are a fundraise, a pivot, a new market, a stalled pipeline, or a homepage that keeps changing. April Dunford’s consulting site notes she does not take pre-launch products for this reason.

Too early vs too late

Before customers, positioning is a guess. After years without it, every team has invented its own version and the cleanup is larger.
